The article goes on to describe the accident and injuries to the others walking with Dr. Persons. The short biographical included in the article is as follows:

Dr. Eli S. Persons was born May 7, 1867, at Prattsville, Greene county, and was a son of the late Hiram J. Sigsbee and Mrs. Salina Sigsbee. He graduated from the college of Physicians and Surgeons, at Baltimore, Md., in Aril 1892. In 1895 he graduated from the Long Island College Hospital, Brooklyn, and while there took a special course in physical diagnosis. The doctor was enjoying a large practice.
