Thank you for the information concerning Emma Norris and John McNary. -- Emma's parents were Nelson Norris and Louisa Cummens Norris. Nelson died in late 1863 or early 1864, reportedly from a ruptured appendix. Louisa was pregnant with their 4th daughter, Georgia, (my grandmother) at the time of his death. Georgia was born in or near Morgantown, WV, probably at the home of her grandparents, Joseph Cummens and Margaret Stillwell Cummens. The family moved to Waukon, IA a few years later. Louisa Cummens Norris died there ~1872 and Margaret Stillwell Cummens died ~1873, leaving Joseph Cummens to care for four young granddaughters. --- Question: Did John McNary and Emma Norris McNary have a daughter, Ruth? I think so, but lack documentation.
