Age 74, of Sherwood Forest, passed away at home on Friday, April 20, 2007, after a long battle with cancer.
He was the loving husband of Elizabeth Louise Sixbey, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. Born on October 2, 1932, in Takoma Park, MD, Daniel earned a B.A. degree from the University of Maryland in 1954, and a law degree (L.L.B.) from George Washington University in 1961. He was a member of the District of Columbia Bar and American Bar Association and was Senior partner and founder of the law firm Sixbey, Friedman, Leedom and Ferguson and practiced patent law for over 40 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a navigator in the Strategic Air Command. Among his hobbies, he was an avid reader and loved to go crabbing with his grandchildren or watch the younger ones play along the Severn River beach and the older ones compete in sporting events.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jill Johnson and husband, Dennis; Joan Delle Donne and husband, Ernie; Janet Jornlin and husband, John and Thomas Sixbey, and wife, Alice; 8 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Craig, Ryan, Gene, Mike, Elena, Brad and Christopher.
At Dan's request, a family service will be held at JOHN M. TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, Annapolis, MD.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent in Dan's name to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
