OBITUARY
MRS. CHRISTIANA OLIVER
On the afternoon of Monday, Feb. 12, 1912, Mrs. Christiann Oliver, wife of Garret Oliver, deceased, died at the residence of her son, Andrew V.D.H. Oliver, at Union church, NY and was buried Feb. 15th, Rev. N. McLeod, paster of the Reformed Dutch church of New Scotland, officiated.
Mrs. Oliver was 93 years old and retained the use of her facilities up to the time of her death, although her physical strength had greatly weakened during the past few years so that the hour of her demise was as though her sould had passed beyond while her body slept. She saw the fullness of years and could look back upon a life well spend and an old age crowned with the reward of fidelity and devotion to her family. It is not often in these days that we find wormn of that good mould in which such mothers were cast. We can be thankful that God spared her to be a guide to the younger generation; that He brought her through the turbulent seas of life to the peaceful harbor of her declining days and from that peace called her to the greater peace of Paradise where the souls of the righteous are in the hands of God, where the sun shall no more be their light by day, neither for brightness by night the moon, but there the glory of God and His saints shall be for her an everlasting light and perfect realization of the acts of God her diadem and radiance. Two poetic paragraphs followed in tribute to Mrs. Oliver.
