ELKHART -- Franklin D. "Frank" Sigsbee, 71, of 1701 North Carolina Ave., died at 9:27 a.m. Wednesday (July 14, 2004) at Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born Nov. 14, 1932, in Elkhart, to James and Marie (Anderson) Sigsbee. He married Delores Mae Mong on June 17, 1959, in Elkhart. She died in 2002.

He is survived by two sons, Mark (Lisa) Sigsbee of Ft. Washington, Md., and David Sigsbee of Elkhart; two daughters, Susan (Greg) McIntyre of Elkhart and Shari (Alan) Weaver-Schrock of Elkhart; three brothers, Richard Sigsbee and Tom (Sherry) Sigsbee, both of Elkhart, and Paul (Cynthia) Sigsbee of Bristol; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, John Sigsbee, and a sister, Beverly Sigsbee.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and for one hour before the 10 a.m. Saturday funeral at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor Jim Blodgett of First Baptist Church of Elkhart will officiate. Burial will follow in Rice Cemetery, in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum, where there will be military honors by the Elkhart DAV 19 and U.S. Air Force Military Honor Guard.

Mr. Sigsbee was a U.S. Air Force veteran in the years after Korea. He worked for 47 years at Elkhart Brass, retiring in 1998. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and attended Christian Lights Sunday School Class. He also served as an official IHSAA football referee and was an usher at Notre Dame home games for almost 20 years. He enjoyed family vacations, fixing things, and barbecues. He was an avid NASCAR/Jeff Gordon fan and a Notre Dame football and Indiana University basketball fan.

Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church building fund.
