LeRoy Mattice
WEST COXSACKIE LeRoy Mattice, age 80 years, of Appleblossom Lane, West Coxsackie, N.Y., died Sunday, June 26, 2005 at Columbia Memorial Hospital, Hudson, N.Y., where he has been a patient since June 22, 2005. He was born in Ravena, March 29, 1925 and was the son of the late Addison and Mary (Pelton) Mattice. LeRoy has been an area resident since 1946. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy. He also is a member of the the American Legion Post #166 in Coxsackie and also the VFW Post #10986 of Coxsackie. He was employed as a yardmaster for 37 years by Conrail in Selkirk, N.Y. He is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Jean B. (Carrington) Mattice of West Coxsackie; two sons, Nelson Mattice of Cairo, Neal Mattice of Coxsackie; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Nancy) Crewell of Coxsackie, Mrs. Matteo (Norean) Frenza of Catskill; a brother, James Mattice of Huma, Ariz.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by a daughter, Nadine Mattice in 1976, six brothers and eight sisters. Funeral services will take place Thursday at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Coxsackie with Rev. Wendy Steed, Pastor officiating. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours at the W.C. Brady's Sons, Inc., Funeral Home, 97 Mansion Street, Coxsackie on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The V.F.W. Post #10986 of Coxsackie will hold services, in his memory, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home and the American Legion Post #166 will hold services, in his memory, at 7:15 p.m. The day of the funeral everyone is asked to meet at the church.
