ELMER GROTE
The community was saddened and shocked on Wednesday, Jan 4, when death claimed the life of our beloved neighbor and friend, Elmer Grote.
Mr. Grote was born in the town of Guilderland 78 years ago, the only son of the late Stephen and Lucretia Grote. After selling his farm seven years ago, he bought the James Relyea place on Voorheesville Avenue, where he made his home until his death. Last January Mr. and Mrs. Grote celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and it was also the birthday of Mr. Grote. He was a man of quiet nature, a friend to all who knew him. He had a kind word for all and a pleasant mile for all he met. These are just a few of the qualities that make shuch a friend so greatly missed. The countless floral pieces in the undertaking establishment proved in the community and all visitors now much we all loved him.
Mr. Grote leaves his wife, Lucretia Relyea Grote, to more the loss. Funeral services were held from the Floyd J. Brunk Funeral Home in Voorheesville on Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Burial was in Prospect Hil cemetery, Guilderland. Rev. White was the officiating clergyman.
