Notes for Emerilla WILLIAMS
Good afternoon
I found the McNary family tree on the internet and noted that Emerilla Calkins was shown as his wife.
She is a distant relative of mine through my grandmother's 'WILLIAMS' line. Emerilla was the eldest daughter of Benjamin Williams and Susannah Carter and was born in Haldimand township Northumberland County, Ontario, Canada. She married a Warren Sidney Calkins about 1844 in Mariposa Township, Victoria County, Ontario and they later moved to Maryborough Township Wellingington County, Ontario, then to Michigan USA in the mid 1860's. Her husband died in or near Lake County and she remarried Isaac McNary. When Isaac died she moved with her eldest son to Nebraska. The Nebraska State census of 1885 indicates she was living there with her son and his family but her trail goes cold after that. Her son later moved back to Michigan with his family but not his mother. The Williams family first came to America in the 1600's and settled in the new England colonies. A son David Williams took up residence in what is now Vermont prior to 1775 and became involved in the War that followed. He and his family (loyal to the british) later fled to Canada where the family grew and moved westward to various locations. His some of his childrens' children later moved to Michigan and settled in various counties there. Do you have any information on Emerilla (Williams)(Calkins) McNary? as her trail has gone cold. One of her sons left Nebraska in the late 1800's and moved to Idaho but there is no indication his mother was ever there. RegardsChuck MartynBrighton, OntarioCanada
