Jack L. McNary, age 86, of Marshall, died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at his home in the loving care of his family.
Born in Battle Creek on June 3, 1918, to George E. and Caroline L. (Bilsborrow) McNary. He moved to Marshall in 1924 and graduated from Marshall High School in 1937.
He worked at Eaton Corp. until 1941, when he was drafted into the United States Army. Immediately after the attack on Pearl Harbor he was sent to Hawaii and he later served three and one half years in the Pacific as a radio sergeant. He was honorable discharged in 1945.
After the war he worked briefly at Post Cereal, but spent the majority of his working years at Kellogg's, retiring as a pressman in 1980.
He was a member of the Marshall Country Club, the Marshall Moose and the Claude E. Hale V.F.W. Post.
He enjoyed dancing, golf, yard work, his grandchildren and his many friends.
He is survived by his wife, Lena (Hakes), whom he married on May 29, 1949, in West Eckford; daughters, Karol (Mike) Drumm and Sharon (Bob) Chapple. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jackie (Scott) Root, Erin (Dan) Gilbert, Greg Ramos (fiancee, Jessica Clements), Alexander Harris and Rachel Harris; 3 great-grandchildren, nephew, Lee (Phillis) McNary and niece, Charlene (David) Perrell; and several grand nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Irene, Francis (Mair) and Eleanor; and a brother, Charles E. McNary.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 - 8:00 at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2004, at the funeral home.
Memorial donations can be made to the Ann Arbor Children's Clinic or the Marshall Fountain Clinic.
