Ray B. Elliott, 82 of 1005 Adams St., a former resident of Newcomerstown, died Sunday afternoon at Guernsey County Memorial Hospital, Cambridge, where he had been a patient three weeks.
He was born May 4, 1888 in Newcomerstown, the son of Stephen and Mary Harstine Elliott. He married Laura Scherer, who survives on Dec 15, 1915.
He was a retired Pennsylvania Railroad employee with 42 years of service. A member of the St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Newcomerstown, he served with the U.S. Navy from 1904-1908.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Margaret) Miller, Mansfield; Mrs. Bernard (Helen) Goodall, Dover and Mrs. Paul (Dorothy) McNary, Coshocton; a stepson, Carl Gephart, Newcomerstown; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. A son, a step-son and two half sisters are deceased.
Services will be at 1 pm Wednesday at the Addy Funeral Home in Newcomerstown, with the Rev. William Calvert officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Tuesday.
