Robert Sigsbee
Robert Sigsbee, age 87, of Algona, died on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the West Bend Care Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday at the Apostolic Christian Church in West Bend, with burial at East Lawn Cemetery in Algona. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Wednesday at the Lentz Funeral Home in Algona.
Robert Louis Sigsbee, the son of Winford and Rose (Wegener) Sigsbee, was born on March 28, 1922 in Algona, Iowa. He graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1940. Robert was a member of the Iowa Army National Guard and was activated in 1941. He served in the European Theatre and was discharged in 1945. Robert was united in marriage with Ruth Bruellman on May 30, 1948 in Algona. He worked as a plumber for Sigsbee Plumbing & Heating and later Snap-On Tools, retiring in 1984. Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and reading.
Left to cherish Robert’s memory is his wife of 61 years, Ruth; two daughters, Muriel Secker and her husband Martin of Auburn, CA, and Judy Boyd and her husband Tim of Algona; two sons, Robert Sigsbee of Algona, and James Sigsbee and his wife Deborah of Sioux Center; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Ann Beardlsey and her husband Earl of Lincoln, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harlan Sigsbee.
