Nicholas Vatalaro Sr.

RAVENA Nicholas J. Vatalaro Sr., 84, entered eternal life Wednesday, July 19, 2006. Nick was born in Coxsackie, son of the late Costantino and Rose Graziano Vatalaro. He graduated with honors from Coxsackie High School and received the Bausch & Lomb Science Award. In 1983, he retired from the field of television and electronics repair. Nicholas was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving during World War II. Nick was predeceased by his wife, Mary Jane Delehanty Vatalaro. Survivors include his daughters, Paula Vatalaro and Kathryn (Gary) Meyer; sons, Nicholas Jr., Michael (Cindy), Mark (Sandra), Stephen, Matthew (Sandra) and Thomas Vatalaro; 14 loving grandchildren; sister, Letizia Vatalaro; and several nieces and nephews. Nick was predeceased by his sisters, Sylvia Theysohn and Santa Montelone; brother, Emery Vatalaro; and grandson, Michael Vatalaro II. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 24 at St. Patrick's Church, Ravena. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. Friends may call at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Sunday from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Contributions in memory of Nicholas may be made to the Capital City Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 1999, Albany, NY 12201-1999 or to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
