LETTERS TO SANTA CLAUS.
Dear Mr. Sandy clause
I have been wanting to send you word to bring me a pair of rubber boots that come up to my waist for Christmas & I saw in the Recorder that they would let you know and I thank them so much for it. I wont ask you for anything else only what you are a ind to leave me, such as candy books & toys. I would like a fife & drum & a Christmass tree. I guess I am a pretty good boy now days. Am only 7 years old. I will thank you now.

Obituary
Gilbert J. Canary, 58, died suddenly Monday afternoon at his home on the Perth Rd. While he had not been in his usual health, his death came unexpectedly.
Mr. Canary was born in Illion July 19, 1895, the son of William and Maggie Gilbert Canary, but had been a resident of this locality since childhood. A graduate of the Amsterdam High School, he worked for a time for Wilkie & Platt, clothiers, and later conducted a confectionery store at the corner of Wall and Division Sts. He was employed for 20 years as salesman for Charles H. Dersch, Wholesale paper and confectionery dealer, retiring from this position in 1943 and moving to his present home on the Perth Rd. where he engaged in the poultry business.
Surviving Mr. Canary are his wife, the former Mildred Masland, whom he married in 1916; two daughters, Mrs. Gordon H. Volean, Amsterdam, and Mrs. Norman E. Greenwood, Broadalbin; one son, William C. Canary, Alhambra, Calif.; four grandchildren, a step mother; Mrs. Sidnie Canary, West Springfield, Mass.; two half brothers, Alson and Clark Canary, also of West Springfield, and several nieces and nephews.
