Notes for Charles DERSCH

Evening Recorder, Amsterdam, Friday, October 1, 1943.

Charles Dersch
Charles Dersch, 67, well known in the business life of Amsterdam for many years, died at noon today at his home, 324 Guy Park Ave. Although he had been ailing for the past five years, Mr. Dersch was apparently in his unsual health when stricken and death came unexpectedly. He was born October 5, 1875, a son of Conrad and Elizabeth Berkley Dersch, and spent his entire life in Amsterdam. He conducted a grocery store here for a long time and for 22 years was successfully engaged as a wholesale dealer of paper supplies, retiring five years ago because of illness. Mr. Dersch was a member of the First Baptist Church and Artisan Lodge, 84 F. & A.M., and although his interest and support could always be relied upon, he never took a prominent part in the affairs of these organizations. His integrity was a business man and his exemplary character commanded the respect of all with whom he came in contact.
Mr. Dersch was twice married, his first wife, the former Georgiana Canary, having died in 1930. One son, Conrad, was born to them. In 1932, Mr. Dersch married Miss Grace Weller of this city, who survives him together with his son; one sister, Mrs. Lewis Pepper, Fort Johnson; one brother, Adam Dersch, Amsterdam, and several nieces and nephews.
