MRS. ALMIRA BESHA
Mrs. Almira Besha, widow of the late Joseph V. Besha, died Fridayat the old family home in Leray, in which town she was born March 16, 1817, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sixbury. Mrs. Besha was one of the oldest inhabitants of Jefferson county, and saw the town of Leray grow from a forest, with occasional clearings, to a populous farming community. She was a woman of storing qualities. She was a devoted mother of the old school and raised a family of ten children, of whom the following survive: Mrs. John Fraley, of Philadelphia, Charles E. Besha, Carthage, Ferdinand A., Deer River; George A., Algona, Ia., and William M. and Nettie Besha, of the town of Leray.
