Mr. & Mrs. George Sigsbee, Mr. & Mrs. John Young and Mr. & Mrs. Frank Hitchcock are in Albany today to attend the funeral of Elmer Eglington, a son-in-law of Mr. & Mrs. Sigsbee, whose death occurred in Albany on Thursday. Mr. Eglington formerly resided here and was at one time employed on the D&H railroad here. Interment is also to be made in Albany.

Obit, Oneonta Star, Tuesday October 11, 1921
George W. Sigsbee, a well known Davenport farmer, died at the Fox Memorial hospital yesterday afternoon at 12:15 o’clock following an illness of 12 weeks’ duration. Funeral services to be conducted by the Rev. Dr. B.M. Johns, will be held from 41 Riverstreet Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Burial will be in the Plains Cemetery.

Mr. Sigsbee was born at Prattsville May 30, 1852, a son of the late Nicholas and Jemima (Wilsey) Sigsbee.

Fifty years ago he married Margariet Warner, who survives. The greater part of his life was spent in Greene County and it was 19 years ago that he came to Otsego County and engaged in farming in the town of Laurens. About eight years ago he moved to the farm at Davenport. He was a kind neighbor and friend and his life was one of the unselfishness and generous devotion to his family. He was a member of the First Methodist church of this city.

Besides his wife there are surviving nine children, a number of grandchildren and one great grandchild. The children are Mrs. Frank Hitchcock of West Oneonta, Mrs. Ben Tamsett of North Franklin, Mrs. George Hotaling of Binghamton, Charles Sigsbee of Davenport, Mrs. Henry S. Baker of Albany and Mrs. Elmer Eglinton, Frank Sigsbee, Peter Sigsbee, and Mrs. Samuel Collins of this city. One Adopted daughter, Miss Elizabeth Sigsbee, also survives.
