Notes for Simon Symonese GROOT
At the time of the 1690 massacre at Schenectady, Simon and Rebecca were at Albany.
It is believed that the rest of his family was in Schenectady, however, Dirk was only about 3 years old and if he was there he would likely have been in the care of his older sisters.
It has been recorded that 5 of Simon's sons were taken prisoner during that raid and were marched to Canada. They were kept there for about a year and they returned to Schenectady.
