William Overocker died March 5, 1890 at the age of 57 years, 2 months and 12 days. He was born in Oneida County, NY December 23, 1832. He lived in NY until 1879 when he moved to Grundy County, IL where he resided until his death. He was a butcher by trade, but had farmed since going west. In the fall of 1889 he moved into town and opened up a butcher shop. He married Miss Amy Westcott on March 16, 1856 from which three children were born: Edgar W, Ina M. and Fred. Amy Overocker died December 25, 1862. On December 5, 1864 he married Jennie Pratt. Seven children were born to this union: Emma, Cora E., William H., Dora F, Ada M., Eva M. and Ella J. The former died January 1, 1866 and the latter September 12, 1884. William and his wife converted and united with the protestant Methodist Church in 1877. Funeral service was held on Saturday at 10 am in the M. E. Church. Rev. McAllister officiating. The remains were interred in the Viner cemetery.
