OBITUARY
Thomas H. Overocker
Thomas Horton Overocker died this morning at 4 o’clock at his home, 269 Oneida St., after an illness lasting three years. He had been confined to his room twenty-one days. Mr. Overocker was a son of Jacob and Elizabeth Overocker. His mother died while he was young and he was adopted by Thomas Horton of New Hartford. The deceased married Miss Annie Mallinson of New Hartford in 1859 and soon after they removed to Utica.
Mr. Overocker was a butcher, and was with Thomas Horton for many years. Upon the death of Mr. Horton in 1891, Mr. Overocker took charge of the business and has since conducted it in the Foster building, corner of Hobart and Kemble streets.
Mr. Overocker was a member of Westminster Church and attended the services regularly. In politics he was a Repblican, but never active in the party. He was of quiet disposition, a home man in the fullest sense. By nature he was not demonstrative, but his character was admirable, good and sincere.
There survives a widow, a daughter, Clara L., one sister, Mrs. Sarah Hill, of Maxon, Ill., and a brother, Charles Overocker of Rock Rapids, Iowa.
