JAMES P. OVEROCKER DIES, ILL 5 MONTHS
James P. Overocker, for many years a prominent merchant in this city, died early Tuesday morning at his home, 57 North Clinton Street. He had bee in ill health since last July.
Funeral services will be held at his home at half past two Thursday afternoon, with the Rev. Addison C. Bird, pastor of the Arlington Reformed Church officiating. Burial will be in the Rural Cemetery.
Mr. Overocker was born in Freedom Plains, the son of the late Daniel W. and Mehala E. Sleight Overocker, and maintained his residence during most of his life in the Townof Poughkeepsie. For 17 years with his brother, Galen D. Overocker, he conducted the harness and leather goods establishment at 311 Main Street. About eight years ago he sold out to William H. Irish and retired from active business. He was widely known, not only in Poughkeepsie but throughout the county.
Mr. Overocker is survived by his wife, who was Miss Jennie R. Levison, one niece, Miss Mary L. Overocker and two nephews, Daniel W. Overocker of Brattleboro, VT, and former City Judge George Overocker of this city.

In 1920 James was living with his brother and sister, he was age 51 and single. He must have married Jennie shortly thereafter.
