ENDS 25 YEARS IN BUSINESS AT CLYDE
Clyde, Aug 2-Coming from Groton, where he was a clerk for three months following his graduation from the University of Buffalo School of Pharmacy, William G. Overocker, 47, Clyde druggist, began business here 25 years ago this month.
Receiving his degree on May 4, 1905, he went immediately to Groton. Three months later he entered the employ of T. Fred William.s. On Oct 3, 1905, two days after his 23rd birthday, he purchased Mr. Williams’ interest in the business and has operated it continuously since that time.
Mr. Overocker was born Sept. 29, 1883 in the house in West Genessee Street where he now resides. The house was built that year. Mr. and Mrs. Oveerocker who were married on July 17, 1909, have one daughter, Miss Irene Overocker, Syracuse University graduate, who is librarian of Geneva High School.

DEATH TAKES WM. OVEROCKER, 63 MAYOR OF CLYDE
William G. Overocker, 63 years old, mayor of Clyde, died in Barber Hospital, Lyons, late Tuesday afternoon.
Born in Clyde, Sept 29, 1883, in the home where he has always lived, at 101 W. Genesee St., he was the son of Charles and Anne Overocker.
He was graduated from University of Buffalo in 1905 with the degree of Bachelor of Pharmacy. He then purchased the drug business of T.F. Williams in Clyde. Up until his retirement in April, 1946, he had successfully operated the Central Pharmacy there.
Elected Mayor of Clyde in March, 1947, he took office in April.
Mr. Overocker was a member of Clyde Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years. He was also a member of Clyde Lodge No. 341, F. & A.M. Griswold Chapter No. 201 R.A.M/, Clyde: Zenobia Comandery, Palmyra: Damascus Shrine, Rochester; Clyde Lodge 1.0.0.F. No. 300. He was a member of Ever Ready Fire Department, Clyde for more than 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edyth Beadle Overocker. One daughter, Mrs. Alfred Flood of Geneva, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held from his late home, Friday afternoon at 3o’clock, with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery.
The united Fire Companies of Clyde will call at the home in a body at 7:45 Thursday evening. Odd Fellows’ service will be held at 8o’clock, followed by Masonic services at half-past eight, both at the home.
The Board of Trustees of Clyde requests that all business places be closed from 3 to 4 o’clock, Friday afternoon, in respect to Mayor Overocker.
