History of Gouverneur, NY 1905
Charles Wesley Overacker, born in Gouverneur, August 2, 1848. His parents were John W. Overacker, born in Valley Danube, Herkimer County, August 10, 1810 and Susan Howes Overacker. He was educated in Gouverneur, and married Jan. 1, 1872 to Levina A. Hodges. Mr. Overacker was among the first manufacturers of cheese in the town of Gouverneur, commencing in 1871.

Charles W. Overacker
Gouverneur, April 7-Charles W. Overacker, 75, passed away at 10:30 last Wednesday night at his home on the Sommerville road, about on and a half miles from this village. He had been ill for about a year and a half. Mr. Overacker was a well know farmer and an expert cheese maker.
He was born August 2, 1845, the son of John and Susan Howe Overacker. For a time he resided in North Gouverneur, but had resided on the Somerville road for 49 years. He was married Jan. 1, 1872, ot Lavina Hodge who survives.
Besides the widow, one son, Ray, survives, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Emma Babcock of Gouverneur, Mrs. G. W. Griffith of Rodney, Iowa, Mrs. C. A. Miller of St. Cloud, Florida, Mrs. Fred Mott of Gouverneur, George H. Overacker and A.W. Overacker, both of Gouverneur.
The funeral was held from the home Saturday at 2:30 o.m. and interment was made in Riverside.
