Watertown Daily November 9, 1916
Lester Overacker, 76, Dies at Richville
Had Been in Failing Health For Some Time
Gouverneur Nov 9-Lester Overacker, an old and well known and retired farmer of this town died early Wednesday morning at the home of his son, Herbert Overacker, at Richville, after a long period of failing health due to complications of disease, age about 76 years. Mrs. Overacker has also been in poor health for a long time and it was owing to their conditions that their son took them to his house a few months ago.
Mr. Overacker was born in the northern part of this town, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Overacker and his whole life was spent in this town where he followed farming up to some years ago when he retired and moved to this village. They purchased a home in Smith Street, west side where they lived for a few years when they sold out and purchased another home in Rock Island Street where they lived until their son took them to his home.
Besides his widow, he is survived by two sons, Herbert of Richville, at whose home he died, and Alfred Overacker who lives in Pennsylvania; one brother, Charles W. Overacker, a well known farmer in this town, one sister, Mrs. Emma Babcock of this town, two half brothers, Albert W. and George Overacker of this village; and three half sisters, Mrs. Wallace Griffith of Iowa, Mrs. C.A. Miller of Clark Mills, and Mrs. Fred W. Mott of Gouverneur.
The body will be brought to the old home here Saturday morning and the funeral services will be conducted at 11 o’clock in the forenoon, and burial will probably be made at North Gouverneur.
