LAFAYETTE ? Funeral serv-ices will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, in the Del-homme Chapel for Volan Dean Youngblood who died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at his residence.Entombment will be at Lafay-ette Memorial Park on Pinhook Road.The Rev. Bert Langley of First Baptist Church of Lafayette will officiate.Musical selections will be pro-vided by Ramona Carmichael, soloist, accompanied by Sharon Ringo, organist, and will include ?Holy, Holy, Holy?, ?How Great Thou Art? and ?The Lord?s Pray-er?.Volan, born Feb. 3, 1943 in Brookshire, Texas, was the son of Volan and Lorene (Sigsbee) Youngblood. Mr. Youngblood was a graduate of Katy High School, Katy, Texas and the Uni-versity of Houston in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering. He re-tired from Mobil in 2000 after 30 years of employment. After re-tirement from Mobil Oil, he was employed as a consultant with Petroleum Engineers Interna-tional and Chalmers, Collins & Alway. Mr. Youngblood worked as a workover and completion supervisor for Penzoil in Lafay-ette from 1977-1981, a drilling su-perintendent for Superior Oil Company in Lafayette from 1981-1985, drilling superintendent, Mobil Oil Denver and drilling superintentdent Mobil Oil, Okla-homa City from 1990-1992. He was a past member and officer of the Society of Petroleum Engi-neers. He was a Boy Scout Lead-er for many years and an avid fisherman. He served as presi-dent of the Oilmen?s Bass Fish-ing Club in 1983 and won Fisher-man of the Year in 1984, along with being an active member of the Oilmen?s Bass Fishing Club for many years. Mr. Youngblood was a member of First Baptist Church.Survivors include his wife, Cathy Joy Guinn Youngblood; son, David Youngblood and his wife, Christie, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; daughter, Robin Young-blood of Edmond, Okla.; his step-children, Mike Moncla and his wife, Cathy, of Lafayette, Marc Moncla and his wife, Ashley, of Lafayette, and Matt Moncla and his wife, Lacey, of Lafayette; his grandchildren, Hunter, Tanner and Makenzie Youngblood, Vir-ginia Kate Moncla and Jaxon Charles Moncla.He is also survived by his mother, Lorene Youngblood Brown; his step-father, Stewart Brown, of Itasca, Texas; his brothers, Obby Youngblood and his wife, Lynda, of Itasca, Texas, and John Youngblood and his wife, Kathy, of Lindale, Texas; and sisters, Sharon Maier and her husband, Ed, and Sandy Levy and her husband, Bill, of Arlington, Texas.Mr. Youngblood was preceded in death by his father, Volan Johnson Youngblood.Visiting hours were observed from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednes-day and will continue from 8 a.m. today until the time of serv-ices.Pallbearers will be Byron Gianfala, Jim Buchanan, Reggie Bollich, Dave Davis, Dr. Lyn Au-rich, Charlie Cummings, Oliver Carmichael and Brown Cobb.Honorary pallbearers will be members of Oliver Carmichael?s Sunday School class.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, 1100 Lee Ave., Lafayette, LA 70501 or Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 John-ston Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.The family would like to thankthe staffs of Dr. Michael Cain, Dr. Andrew Harwood and Hos-pice of Acadiana.Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, (337) 235-9449, is in charge of all funeral arrangements.

Lorene Youngblood Brown, 87, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009., Graveside service: (private) Saturday in Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Arlington Funeral Home., Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Angelic Place, 2300 Park Run Drive, Arlington, Texas 76016., Lorene was born April 27, 1922, in Okemah, Okla., to Obby and Jane Sigsbee. She married Volan J. Youngblood on Oct. 10, 1039, and they spent 40 years as residents of Katy. She was a loving participate and supporter in all her family's activities., Lorene married Stewart L. Brown in 1982, and they resided in Files Valley. She was active and well loved member of the Itasca community for 24 years. She spent the last three years as a resident of Angelic Place in Arlington, where she was shown much care and love by Brenda Meyers and the caretakers of that facility., She was preceded in death by Mr. Youngblood in 1979 and, her son, Volan D. Youngblood, in 2005., Survivors: Husband, Stewart Brown of Crowley; children, Obby Youngblood and wife, Lynda, of Itasca, Sharon Maier and husband, Ed, Sandy Levy and husband, Bill, of Arlington and John Youngblood and wife, Kathy, of Lindale; brother, Bill Sigsbee and wife, Barbara, of Duncanville; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.
