Appeared on the 1920 census in the household of his son, Henry. His stated age was 75 yrs.
Also listed in the household was Maryetta Carr, aunt aged 78

1868, Aug 1 John Van Alstein of Coeymans and Lena Pelton of Coeymans.
Either the year of this marriage is incorrect, the year of birth for their first child is incorrect, or John and Lena had a child at least 4 years before their marriage and Lena was about ready to have a second child when they married.
