ALBANY -- Carmen V. Aiezza, 86, died Tuesday, January 15, 2002 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peters Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Carmen was predeceased by his loving wife, Frances Fink Aiezza. Born in Bronx, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Giovannina Tascione Aiezza and lived in Albany most of his life. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was employed at Ashland Chemical in Rensselaer, retiring in 1980. Carmen enjoyed sports and was a avid golfer and a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox. He was a member and past commander of the Pat Aiezza Post, CWV #1181. Carmen was a communicant of St. James Church and a member of the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Albany Elks BPOE #49 and St. Margaret Mary's Senior Citizen Club. Mr. Aiezza is survived by five sisters, Lucy Sheldon, Mary Triolo and her husband, Charles, Jennie Stumpf and her husband, Edward, Rose Teson and her husband, Joseph, Anna Mottolese and her husband, Joseph; his two brothers, Andrew Aiezza and his wife, Frances and Salvatore Aiezza and his wife, Theresa; also survived by many loving and caring nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Patsy Aiezza, Jr. and sister, Elizabeth Holmes. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Peter's Hospital for their excellent medical care and compassion, especially Dr. Mike Kolodzeij and his staff, Dr. Savage and his staff; also the nurses and staff at St. Peter's Hospice Inn. You took good care of Carmen and helped make this difficult time easier. Special thanks to Fr. Ingemie, Sr. Mary Ellen and Sr. Geraldine of St. James Church for their spiritual support. Funeral services will be celebrated on Friday at St. James Church from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. at a time to be announced. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4-8 p.m. It is Carmen's wish that contributions in his memory be made to St. Peter's Hospice Inn, 315 So.
