Charles Vickham, Riding Bicycle, Struck By Truck’ Funeral This Afternoon

Charles Wickham, 43, of South Bethlehem, died Tuesday night in Albany hospital of a fractured skull, suffered when his bicycle was struck in that village by a truck operated by Earl Schoonmaker of Ravena.
Coroner Ernest A. Hein, after hearing the report of Troopers L.C. Egleston and H.E. Chatterton Wednesday, termed Wickham’s death accidental. Wickham, who leaves a wife, the former Ina Mae Seaburgh, and a son, Herbert, died soon after the accident.
The troopers said they learned Wickham had mounted his bicycle in front of the post office and pulled into the roadway between two parked cars on the wrong side of the road. Hein said that Schoonmaker, the investigation showed, swung his truck to the left in an effort to avert the accident, the coroner added.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o’clock this afternoon from the South Bethlehem church.
