Source: Obit, May 20, 1911. Christopher S. Shafer, 83, died at this home in
Vermilion, May 8, 1911. He was born in Florence Twp., July 4, 1827 and on Mar
17, 1850 he married Mary J. Whiting. George Healt and Maria Shafer being
married at the same time. The first year of their married life was spent in
Terryville, from there to Brimingham, Wakeman, Camden, Florence, Amherst and
then to Vermilion. Burial was made in the Brownhelm Cemetery.
