Obituary
Mrs. Alforetta Sixby
Mrs. Alforetta Sixby, widow of Garry Sixby, residents of Horseheads many years, died Tuesday morning, at her apartments, No. 152 Madison avenue, where, in company with her daughter, Miss H. Grayce Sixby, she had been passing the winter months. Mrs. Sixby had been in ill health several monts, and her death was not unexpected.
She was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal church, Horseheads, many years and while in Elmira she was affiliated in the work of Trinity church auxiliary. The deceased was born in Horseheads, April 12, 1856, and was a person of many pleasing ways, which gained her many friends. Mrs. Sixby is survived by her daughter, Miss H. Grayce Sixby, society editor of the Star-Gazette, and a sister, Mrs. William Park, of Horseheads. The funeral was held at St. Matthew’s church, Horseheads, Thursday afternoon. The Rev. Herbert L. Hannah of Trinity church, and the Rev. Charles Bispham, of St. Matthew’s church, officiated, and burial was in the family plot in Maple Grove cemetery.
