Notes for Emma SIGSBEE

Source: Burials at the East Newark Cemetery, Yates Co., "Asylum inmate"

Emma never married. At age 16 she went to the Alms House in Washington County, pregnant. Her son, Evert was born there and according to the records of the Alms House was sent to the Orphan Asylum.

It appears that Emma didn't change her ways and was retained in captivity. At one point in time she was sent to Yates County , maybe at the request of her parents or maybe because she was a ward of the State, she was sent to Yates County when she eventually died.
