News Story;
J.C. Sigsby, Old Resident, Passes
Another of Crystals pioneer citizens has passed "to that bourne from which no traveler returns."Jolly C. Sigsby, a resident of Crystal for the past 47 years, passed away Jan. 2nd, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Chas. Doty, Tiffin, Ohio. He was 77 years of age. Mr. Sigsby was a well respected citizen, and his familiar figure will be sorely missed by his many friends and associates.
He had conducted a wood-working shop here for many years, and was an expert wagon and cabinet maker. Before the days of the automobile, many were the sturdy vehicles that were turned out of his shop. he continued the cabinet making-making business until somewhat over a year ago, when the infirmities of age compelled him to retire from active work.
He was a faithful member of the Crystal Baptist Church, and was a Life member and a Past Master of MT. Gilead Lodge., F. $ A. M., having joined the order here 43 years ago. He was also a member of Crystal Chapter , O.E.S., and was a past Noble Grand of Joy Lodge, I.O.O.F.
funeral Services for Mr. Sigsby were conducted by Rev. E.E. Eshelman Sunday afternoon, at the Crystal Federated Church. Rev. Eshelman took his as his text " And Enoch walked with God, and God called him". he spoke feelingly of the amiable and worthy character of Mr. Sigsby and the Sorrow of the community in the loss of a good neighbor and citizen. Members of the Masonic and Odd fellow Lodges acted as pallbearers, and members of the 2 lodges attended in a body. Internment was in Crystal Cemetery.
