3. John Parker2 Sigsby (David A1) was born 30 July 1843 in Lorain Co. Ohio, and died 4 May 1911 in Chico, Butte Co. California. He married (1) Maria Louise White 2 October 1867, daughter of David White and Tryphena Skinner. She was born 2 October 1847 in Amboy Twp. Fulton Co. Ohio, and died 5 February 1909 in Chico, Butte Co. California. He married (2) Jennie C. Smith 23 June 1909. She was born in Michigan.

John was a musician with the 100th regiment Ohio volunteers. (which was organized at Camp Toledo in 1862.) Company H was formed in Fulton Co., Ohio. he spent most of his first years in KY. and in Aug. 1863, marched to join the ninth Corps in Eastern Tenn. his Reg. participated in the defense of Knoxville, during the winter of 1863-64 . In the spring of 1864 his Reg. joined the 23 Army Corps, and marched from Knoxville to join Sherman at Tunnel hill, Georgia. John was in the battles of ; Resaca, Georgia, May 13, 1864; Burnt Hickory, Georgia, May 27, 1864; Uloy Creek, Aug. 6, 1864, Franklin , Tenn, Nov. 30 1864. after the service with Sherman, the Regiment eventually returned to Cleveland.
John was injured while a helping to move the Third Division hospital of the 23rd Army Corp to Smithsville, NC. John was caught by falling timber from a dilapidated building they were staying in for the night. He was pinned to the floor by a huge timber. He was only able to walk with crutches and was in constant pain the rest of his life.He had to fight long and hard to get a pension from the Govt. And even harder to get a twelve dollar increase as his disability worsened and he could no longer work at his trade of of plasterer and stone mason..
The Regiment was discharged at Salisbury, North Carolina on July 17, 1865. John went home to Fulton Co., Ohio. John married Maria and moved to Maple Rapids, Michigan in 1867. He Was treated often for his injuries. They moved Back to Ohio,(Delta), in Fulton Co., in 1868 and Ida was born.In 1870 they moved to Pike Twp., Fulton Co., Ohio, where Willie was born, and George Henry in 1872. In 1873 the family moved to Crystal Twp., Montcalm Co., Michigan, where John tried to resume his trade, but could only work part time. In 1877 son Marion was born, but in Carson City, Montcalm Co. In 1883 the family was living in Edmore, Montcalm Co. and John began receiving his Pension. That same year they moved to Harbor Springs, Emmet Co., Michigan where John was a farmer. The attorney fees for John to receive his $4.00 a month pension were $25.00!
In 1897, Johns son George and his family moved to Blue Lake, Humbolt Co.,, California where he received Homestead land. And in 1899 John and Maria left Michigan to join him. Maria had become ill with tuberculosis and they hoped the change of climate would help her. They built log Cabins on the property and farmed it until 1903-05. Maria who had big black eyes, was slim and a wonderful cook, did not get any better so they moved inland to chico Butte where she died in 1909.

John married Jennie Smith in 1909 in chico, but she left him shortly after the marriage. In 1911 John being in ill health and quite depressed, tried unsuccessfully to take his own life. he went to his brothers home in Portland , Oregon where he died shortly thereafter on May 4, 1911. He was taken back to Chico Butte, California where he was buried with his beloved Maria, and daughter Ida among other family members.
