*The town of Oneonta was organized about seven years later, April 17, 1830
To the church thus organized, Mr. FISHER, the first minister, who continued to live at Meredith Square, preached once in four weeks. During that same year sixteen more were added to its communion, making in all a membership of thirty at the end of the first year. On the 30th of August, Lawrence SWARTZ, Nicholas SIGSBEE, James DEITZ, and Joseph YOUNGS were ordained as
elders, and the two latter were also set apart to the office of deacons.
