Notes for Evert SIGSBEE
Source: Evert Sixbee/Sigsbee Family Bible. It should be noted that this Bible record was probably never in the posession of Nicholas or his son, Evert. Dates of some events were added as recently as 1929 when a great grand daughter of Evert's modified it in support of her application to the DAR.
The Stalker Burial Ground was located in the village of New Salem. It was located in an orchard in the rear of the village store. In 1929 when the DAR surveyed the burial ground, the stones had been removed from their original place and were lined up against a fence. Some sources indicate that Evert was buried there. That is possible, but there was no marker for Evert when the DAR was there in 1929.
It is believed that Evert was buried there, as was his son, Abraham. Abraham's remains were later moved to Mont Pleasant Cemetery in New Salem.

Burials at the Stalker Burial Ground, Hannay
Several trips were made to this site and there was at least one correction made to the original notes.
Stalker Family Burial Ground, Villiage of New Salem. South at the 4corners to
the rear of the store. Stones in 1929 were moved and lined up against the
fence on the outside of the orchard.

In 1825 Evert Sigsbee had 1 child in school district #1 (and was a trustee of the school in 1831.)
