Newspaper Article: Coshocton, Ohio Approx. 1915 AGED COUPLE KNOWN HERE A Mitchell, South Dakota, paper contains an interesting account of the life of Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius McNary, brother and sister-in-law of Isaac McNary, of Orange St, this city. They are the oldest married couple in Mitchell, and possibly in the State. Mr. McNary will round out ninety-five years of life the first of next September and Mrs. McNary completed her ninety-first in March. The advanced age of the couple is scarcely less remarkable than the degree of health which they both enjoy.NATIVES OF NEW YORKBoth Mr. and Mrs. McNary were born in New York, the former at Fishkil, which is also the birthplace of Isaac McNary. Mrs. McNary was born in Freehold, Green County. They were married in 1848 and moved at once to Wisconsin where they lived for forty years, when they moved to Hanson County, South Dakota and last fall moved to Mitchell when their home was burned down.A LARGE FAMILYEleven children were born to the couple, two of them died in childhood. In counting their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and those added to the family by marriage over one hundred names would have to be mentioned. To be exact there are one hundred and seven.LONG LIVEDOf their ancestry the McNary's are justly proud. The father Joseph McNary, fought in the War of 1812. The grandfathers of both Mr. and Mrs. McNary were soldiers in the Revolutionary War and a number of their brothers fought in the Civil War. Ill health prevented Mr. McNary himself from taking part in the conflict.Except those who were killed in battle the members of the McNary family have all been long lived, most of them being octonagenarians and several of them, like Cornelius McNary being nonogenarians. Isaac McNary, of Coshocton is eighty-three and is still hale and hearty.
