Obituary:
Sept 1, 1917
John McNary, an old and respected resident of the Haddam road section, whose home was in the town of Haddam, just over the Middletown line, died this morning at the advanced age of 86 years. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Adelia Burke, who resided with him and a nephew Frank Burke, who conducted his farm. Mr. McNary was well known to a large number and was very active up to a few years ago. He was the largest land owner in this section, having title to something over 500 acres in the section where he resided.
Funeral from the Mortuary chapel of A.L. Southmayd, Sunday afternoon at 1:30. Rev. Douglas Horton, of the North Congregational church will officiate. Interment in the New Farm Hill cemetery.
