EAST BERNE
Edward McNary, an old and respected resident of our community, passed away Thursday morning, Jan 2nd.
He had been in poor health for some time but not until he fell in the woods recently and injred himself was his illness considered fatal. Mr. McNary was a veteran of the Civil War and had made his home in this vicinity for many years. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of this village, a staunch Democrat and a kind friend and good neighbor to all. The funeral was held at his late home in the village, Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock. Rev. DeGraaf, of Berne, preached the sermon. Interment at Knox. Mr. McNary’s wife died about a year ago and he leaves one daughter, two brothers, and many friends to mourn his loss.
