Notes for Aurilla MEAD

According to a letter written by Eva V. Shafer Hunt to her granddaughter Eva McNary, there were family pictures that she wanted Eva McNary Miller to see and to hold on to for Roscoe Hunt. She described one portrait of her parents and said that she was also in that picture because her mother was carrying her. It was believed that Aurilla Mead Shafer would probably die in child birth so they had the portrait done.

I'm aware that I am probably imposing upon you, but I know of no other means to learn where my ancestors were buried.

I have a copy of the death certificate of Aurilla Mead Shafer that I obtained from Lansing, Michigan, but they were unable to provide one for her husband, William Henry Shafer who died in 1892 at Belleville.

Aurilla's death certificate indicated that she died on Aug 23, 1905 at Belleville and that her body was removed to Van Buren Twp for burial. I suspect that she is buried beside her husband in one of the cemeteries listed at your site.

My question is, can you put me in contact with someone who can tell me if they are buried at any of the township cemeteries, and if so, which one?

I appreciate any help you can offer.

Thank you

I have checked the cemetery records here at the township hall and have no
record of either Aurilla or William Shafer being buried at any of the four
cemeteries in the township. I'm not sure if you are aware that "Belleville"
is actually the post office location for three communities the City of
Belleville, Sumpter Township and Van Buren Township. Perhaps one of the
other communities has information available. Good luck in your search.
